This is a plastic on the top side and felt on the bottom side. On a smooth wood surface this is not non-slip. Non-slip to me is like the material you put under an area rug to prevent it from moving. When you step on the rug and try and slide it won't move at all. This material will itself slip around on your (smooth surface) table. Not as much as if just a table cloth is on the table alone. So I'd say this is lightly slip resistant. A child would still have no problem pulling your tablecloth off of your (smooth surface) table. The good news is that this will protect your table from spills and minor dings. The plastic protects from spills and the felt adds just enough padding to protect from minor dings. This is a relatively thick pad. Is it as thick as the pads that came with my antique table? No. But, the pads I have are really, really old, and I have taped the folds together trying to save them, so they look pretty bad. I purchased this pad to hide the tape marks when I use my white tablecloth. I think it will do quite nicely. For those of you who are going to be using it alone without the benefit of table pads, I think it will be fine. I wouldn't put hot dishes down on it (even with the tablecloth over it), but I think it will protect your table. There definitely are fold lines. I have had it on the table now for about three days, trying to smooth the lines out; they have smoothed out some, but they are still there. I'm hoping once the tablecloth goes on, and the dishes, candles, etc, it won't matter. Would I purchase it again? Yes.Excellent for price. Easy to size and cut. Nice and thick. Only bummer is fold creases everywhere, but that would be difficult to avoid without it coming on a wide roll. But it’s doing what was advertised which is protect my table.Exactly what I needed! I needed something to protect the top of my very large formal dining table from my children. I got the whole $15,000 set (table 8 chairs, china cabinet and buffet) for $900 from a moving sale. Glass company wanted $700 to make a custom glass top for it. My table cloth just kept sliding off. I bought this to put under the table cloth and some of those mattress sheet clips that hold fitted sheets on. It's perfect now! My 5 year old can play up there without destroying it and my 8 month old can't pull the cloth off and have everything fall on him. There was also enough left after cutting it to size to put a piece on the buffet under a cloth to protect it and a piece on the top of my entertainment stand to protect the top of it as well. This is a very good quality product. In order to get the wrinkles out, I put three damp hand towels in the dryer on delicate for 10 minutes, which removed most of them. I got the towels damp again and repeated for another ten minutes, which ultimately removed ninety-five percent of the wrinkles. It is easy to cut, but depending on how picky you are, you may want to make your piece square before trimming to size. (If you use some T-squares while marking the amount you want to remove, you may find that the vinyl wasn't quite cut square from the factory, but not off by much either.) The ivory is a great neutral color for under cloth tablecloths. I think this is pretty good quality piece for protecting your table tops, and I would buy again.I needed a replacement table pad and this one is great! It protects my wood table from heated food, sweating glasses and anything that may leak through the tablecloth. Easy to wipe down too! This table cloth is perfect for protecting your dining table. Table cloth looks better witha non-see through backing. I did not end up cutting, it fit perfect on an 8 foot extended table.Great thickness, good quality, cleanable. This is exactly what I wanted for my dining room table. It holds my tablecloths in place most of the time unless my cats get a bit too crazy. Very good product and the price was right.
